Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition Trailer

Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition is a spinoff crossover game of the Pokemon series and the Nobunaga's Ambition series. It is scheduled to be released on March 12, 2012 in Japan for the Nintendo DS and is probably one of the most out of the ordinary crossovers in gaming history.

As the release in Japan draws near, here's the latest trailer for Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition.

For fans of Pokemon, we'll get to experience a different gamplay on this game. It is also seen on the trailer that Pokemon can and will evolve during battles. It is still unclear, though, as to whether all 649 Pokemon will be featured or not.

Ace Attorney Live Action Film

Japanese film website Eiga.com confirmed that Takashi Miike (Yatterman, Crows Zero) is directing a live-action adaptation of CAPCOM's Ace Attorney (also known as Gyakuten Saiban) videogame franchise. The film will star Hiroki Narimiya (Gokusen's Noda, NANA's Nobu, Akihabara @ DEEP's Page) as the novice attorney Phoenix Wright (Ryuichi Naruhodo) in his first collaboration with Miike. Other cast members include Takumi Saito (RoboGeisha, Princess Princess D) as prosecutor Miles Edgeworth (Reiji Mitsurugi) and Mirei Kiritani (Arakawa under the Bridge's Nino) as Maya Fey (Mayoi Ayasato).

The film will take place in a parallel world in Japan, where a large increase in harsh crimes has led to a new court system. Under this new system, the defense attorney and public prosecutor have three days to battle cases out in open court to determine guilt or innocence of the accused, placing priority on speed instead of thorough investigation. The film studio Toei plans to use a lot of computer graphics and visual effects in the courtroom scenes in order to make them more interesting, but it will still retain the games' signature lines such as "Igi Ari!" ("Objection!") and "Kurae!" ("Take That!")

A photograph of the courtroom set for the film.
The official site for the Ace Attorney adaptation also announced that the rock band Porno Graffitti will contribute the film's theme song. Porno Graffitti had previously worked on the soundtracks for Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach, and Great Teacher Onizuka.

Filming was scheduled to finish in late June, with the film slated to open in theaters throughout Japan in early spring of 2012.

Kingdom Hearts 3D, Further Plans for The World Ends With You

It was reported earlier that Neku Sakuraba, from the Nintendo DS game The World Ends With You, will appear as a guest character in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.

This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine features an interview with Tetsuya Nomura about the upcoming Kingdom Hearts.

Famitsu asked the creator if Neku's appearance in the game as a guest character was a hint that Nomura still has plans for The World Ends With You.

Replying to the question, Nomura wouldn’t confirm a sequel outright but stated that Neku’s presence could be a hint of something coming and that Square Enix are working on something. For now, that’s as close to an official announcement as we’re going to get.

Pokemon Black and White review

I've finally finished both games. Now it's time for my thoughts on it...

Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version are the first two games for the 5th generation of Pokemon series for the Nintendo DS.

In Pokemon Black/White You will experience your own adventure in becoming the champion of your region, Unova and in completing the PokeDex as a side quest. Unlike the other Pokemon games, the protagonist is a teenager - not a twelve year old kid. You were given this chance when Professor Juniper from your hometown sends the starter Pokemon to you and your two friends Bianca and Cheren.

As your journey starts, you will meet a mysterious boy called N, who is plays the role of your rival. Along your journey, you will also encounter the evil schemes of Team Plasma who wants to free the Pokemon from their trainers.

Now, for the gameplay, It is still similar to the previous games plus a lot of changes. 156 new Pokemon has been added to the lineup giving you 643 to collect in total. The graphics are now in semi-3D, the battle scene has been enhanced and there are some areas where the camera angles actually changes.

Professor Juniper is the first female Pokemon Professor in the game series.
The system had major upgrades as well, One of the noticeable improvements is the implementation of the Season cycle. Since the 2nd generation games, a day/night cycle system has been implemented where the wild Pokemon that you encounter varies if it is day or night. In Black and White, the day/night cycle is still implemented, the season cycle is added where you encounter different Pokemon from season to season. One season lasts a month. Several areas have new areas accessible within certain seasons. An example of this is Icirrus City where, in Winter, a snowfall allows you to access areas previously inaccessible. It also affects some Pokemon such as Deerling which has different forms depending on the season.

Also introduced are the Triple Battles and Rotation Battles as an upgrade to the Tag Battles started in Pokemon Emerald and Ruby. It also comes handy that the TMs can now be used infinitely, similar to HMs.

C-Gear Interface (below)
Also added is the C-Gear function. It sits upon the bottom screen in a similar manner to the Poketch in the Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. It constantly looks for local Wireless, Infrared and Wi-Fi connections. Through infrared, players can have speedy battles with up to four players and speedy trades directly from the player's party or PC box.

Another one of the new features within Pokemon Black and White is the Pokemon Global Link. Accessed through the C-Gear, this feature allows you to upload your save to the Internet to access a specific website in order to get features and Pokemon in the game. The Dream World is another aspect added to the game where you can sync your game up to your Pokemon Global Link account and play mini-games.

Overall:

Pokemon had a major upgrade in Black and White. The new legendary Pokemon's designs are nicely done. New features and new areas to explore provides you with a new Pokemon experience and could leave you playing any of these games for hours. The wait for these games are worth it. Just like how the previous Pokemon games were, it's simply addictive. It's almost a perfect game for all ages. Check it out and you will not be disappointed, especially if you are a fan of Pokemon.

I wonder what will be the title of the third one... (Pokemon Gray, anyone?)

All Kamen Rider Generation for the Nintendo DS

It seems like Okamiden won't chalk the demise of the Nintendo DS. Something big is still coming up... for Tokusatsu fans, that is.

Following games such as Kamen Rider Battle: Ganbaride Card Battle Taisen for the DS and Kamen Rider Climax Heroes OOO for the PSP, Bandai Namco Games will release another one entitled All Kamen Rider: Rider Generation (オール仮面ライダー ライダージェネレーション). It will be a side scrolling game featuring Ichigo to OOO with graphics nostalgic to those of earlier games (remember Kamen Rider Club for the NES? That's a good example).

All Kamen Rider: Rider Generation will be released in August 4, 2011

Pokemon Black and White Info pt. 2

Recently, more info has been revealed about the two upcoming Pokémon games for the Nintendo DS: Black and White Version.

Let's begin with the starters for both games.

The Fire-type starter, Pokabu

The Grass-type starter, Tsutaaja

The Water-type starter, Mijumaru

Now, let's move on... here's a list of further information about the games:

  • Shiny Entei, Raikou and Suicune obtained from the 13th Movie will unlock the Zoroark event.
  • The Pokémon Centers have been expanded. The Poké Mart and the Global Terminal is now inside the Pokémon Center.
  • These will be the first Main Series games to include more than one car.
  • The Pokémon will be given many new abilities and moves including Zoroark's new Illusion ability which is similar to Transform; Trickery, which can forsee an opponent's moves; and Claw Sharpen, which raises attack and accuracy. There is also the new attack Night Burst.
  • Zoroark has a special event with it having special moves that have to do with Movie 13: Phantom Champion Zoroark
  • The protagonists are older than those on the previous games.
  • In battle sequences, the Pokémon will actually move slightly when you select a move and the camera will move when you attack.
  • People will actually run around the protagonist if he or she bumps into them and will show speech bubbles with small messages as he or she walks or runs by them, as seen in the May 15th Episode of Pokémon Sunday.
  • The Isshu Region is said to be very far away from the previous regions and that people have to take a boat or a plane to reach it.
  • The largest city in these games is Hiun City.
  • As shown on the map of Isshu there are two sets of mountains, one on each side of the region. This may suggest that Zekrom lives in one of these sets of mountains while Reshiram lives in the other.
  • Zekrom will be a Dragon and Electric type while Reshiram will be a Dragon and Fire type.
  • This game has the first female professor, Professor Araragi, that has a Chiramii.
  • Generation IV Pokémon will be able to be transferred to Black & White using a machine called Pokémon Transfer Machine.
  • It has been confirmed on Pokebeach, and through a video from Pokemon Sunday in the week of June 20th, that the first Gym of Isshu consists of Bug Type Pokemon.
  • "White High-Link" is some sort of link to the Internet where you can change your Trainer's avatar. Before the scene in the video is shown, there is a gathering of other Trainers, so it may have to do with online or wireless multiplaying.
  • The "Pokemon Global Link" is the service that allows you to connect Black and White to your computer to upload the save file.
  • In addition to "Fight," "Run," and "Pokemon," there is a new menu option called "Shooter." We don't know what this is yet ("Bag" is missing in the clip they show).
  • Black and White will feature triple battles.
  • It is confirmed that a villain and a rival will be present.
  • There will be at least thirteen new places at Isshu.
  • This game is the first Pokemon game to have more then one save file in the menu (they say to have 3 save/login files)
  • A new feature which is a DSi-exclusive called the "Visual Phone" was introduced. It is a feature that lets you communicate with four opponents at one time using a video chat.

And It doesn't end there yet... here's some images!

Just a few screenies

The main characters
And there we go, Now these upcoming games looks more promising. More teasers will definitely come up, we'll just have to keep our eyes peeled to see 'em.

Pokemon Soul Silver

I tossed Dante's Inferno aside for THIS?!

Well, one can't blame me if I like the colorful, kiddish graphics of Pokemon games (I HATED THE TV SERIES!). Come on, not all games can give what Pokemon games can give: Adventure and Choosing monsters to raise from over 400 choices.

Enter Soul Silver (or/and Heart Gold)...

Okay, basically, these are enhanced Nintendo DS remakes for Pokemon Gold and Silver versions. Just like Fire Red and Leaf Green for the Gameboy Advance not SP, the locations are remodelled, a bunch of features were added and the lineup of Pokemon includes those found in the Sinnoh and Hoenn region (Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl versions).

Oh well, I'll be stuck in this game for a while... until i find something else interesting.

Jump Ultimate Stars

I haven't seen any new cool games on the Nintendo DS since CORE. I'm still feeling lazy to get a copy of the English version of Dissidia for my PSP so I tried out some old DS games (well, not very old).

Here's one of the games I've checked out: Jump Ultimate Stars. Released in 2006, it's a follow-up to the game titled Jump Superstars. It is a 2D fighting game featuring the crossover of Anime characters that's originally seen from Shounen Jump! Magazine. So it's like an anime version of Super Smash Bros. Now how cool is that?

Jump Ultimate Stars features at least 100 playable characters (trust me on that), all from Naruto, Dragonball, Bleach, Gintama, Hitman Reborn, Death Note, One Piece, D.Gray Man and some other Animes that I never knew about.

The gameplay is very simple. You punch, kick, defend and attack to either blow your opponent off the fighting stage or reduce their life bars to zero. There's also this feature called the 'Koma' (Japanese term for 'panels'). The Koma takes up the bottom screen. It's like a deck of cards that you use for the battle and has three types: Battle, Support and Help.

Replay is also necessary if you want to unlock all the characters. Not to mention the Wi-fi multiplayer mode.
The only problem is that Jump Ultimate Stars is NOT released in English but what the hell? It's a lot of fun.
In conclusion, I'd say this game is great. Not just for Anime lovers and Otakus out there but for every avid gamer. If you want to play it, then go on. You won't be disappointed.

C.O.R.E.

This is one of the DS games in my 'wanted-to-play' list since Feb. 2009. C.O.R.E. is a futuristic first-person shooter game to be released this year in North America (up to now there's no finalized release dates yet. It's been delayed over and over. Sorry but I think the European 03/27/09 release date that is said in other sites are false).

C.O.R.E. (as stated in their official website) will be one of the few DS games with an 'M' rating.
There will also be a local multiplayer feature, both single and multi-cartridge. Multiplayer Features includes Deathmatch,Team Arena, and Capture the Flag. It has support for up to 4 player Single-Card Play. It has 10 Maps and has the usual features of a hardcore FPS, with powerups and weapon spawning.

Let's face it, the graphics and trailer looks real promising but I have to get my hands on the actual game to see if C.O.R.E. is really that great.

Oh, don't forget to check out their official site:
C.O.R.E.

and the debut trailer of the game can be found here

Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Survivor

Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor is a Tactical Role-Playing Game for the Nintendo DS released just recently (The English version, June 23, 2009).

Story:
Tokyo has been sealed by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force due to a demon outbreak, and it will be seven days before the whole capital is wiped out. The protagonist, a 17 year-old high school student (which the player decides the name), is trapped with his two friends Atsuro Kihara and Yuzu Tanikawa within the city, and is forced to make contracts with demons by utilizing a peculiar device called COMP to survive.

My Views:
First, getting on the concept of the COMPs, it actually looked like a Nintendo DS Unit, except that it is hacked with the "Devil Summoning Program" which is used in fighting demons. Another cool thing about the game is the references to Japanese Pop Culture (Characters like hackers, cosplayers, otakus, high school delinquents and Japanese rockstars are present in the game), The location is in Tokyo and you'll get to go around districts like Akihabara, Shibuya, Shinjuku etc.

Gameplay-wise, It's fun because it is somewhat a visual novel with a mix of tactical and turn based battles. The Cathedral of Shadows function where you fuse demons is a bit of a pain and you'll probably replay the game 3 to 5 times for the alternate endings and the stronger demons.

On the visuals and audio, it's well done, You won't get bored seeing the locations and the character designs and the soundtrack wasn't bad either.

The way I see it, the game is almost similar to Square-Enix's The World Ends With You. It's almost perfect for a modern RPG. So for Nintendo DS owners who love Asian-style RPG's don't miss this, Shin Megami Tensei DS, would be great for you.
